Vision & Mission
Block Panchayats play a pivotal role in creating effective development models within Kerala's rural development sector. Consequently, as institutions tasked with shaping such development visions, Block Panchayat offices in every region need to be upgraded into public-friendly facilities equipped with modern infrastructure. We are entering the new 14th Five-Year Plan backed by 25 years of experience in the People's Planning Campaign. While we have successfully addressed many issues over these 25 years, certain problems still persist that require urgent attention.
Our development perspective needs to be formulated in alignment with the 'Nava Kerala Mission'. Block Panchayats have already initiated numerous development activities linked to missions such as Haritha Keralam, Aardram, Vidyakiranam, and the LIFE housing scheme. We must strive to implement sustainable solutions in the production sector and revitalize our agricultural culture. A plan will be formulated to achieve sustainable results in food production over the next five years. Although efforts to resolve the waste management issue have been ongoing for a long time, the Block Panchayat has now taken concrete steps to make this a reality by acquiring 19 cents of land at Meerod Mala in Keezhariyur and including a waste processing unit in its project plan. The issue of inorganic waste in the panchayat is expected to be completely resolved by 2025.
The Block Panchayat has achieved significant progress in the health sector. Funds have been successfully mobilized from various sources to facilitate the comprehensive development of the Meladi Community Health Centre (CHC).
A permanent solution to the drinking water crisis needs to be found. We must also ensure the provision of housing through the PMAY scheme to realize the dream of "Housing for All." Furthermore, projects need to be formulated for the welfare of differently-abled individuals and the elderly, grounded in the principles of women's empowerment and social justice.
